Two Shopkeepers Arrested for Threatening Dengue Inspection Team in Rawalpindi
RAWALPINDI: Two shopkeepers were arrested on Thursday for allegedly threatening and obstructing a dengue inspection team in the Morgah area. The incident occurred during a routine inspection aimed at controlling the spread of dengue fever.
According to the FIR filed by Syed Nayyar Abbas, a local resident, the inspection team, consisting of sanitary patrol workers Ahsan Mahmood and Owais Ali, faced hostility when they attempted to inspect a confectionery shop. One shopkeeper reportedly refused to allow the inspection and verbally abused the officials, insisting they leave the premises.
The situation escalated when another individual joined in, using abusive language and physically confronting the inspection team. The FIR details that the accused allegedly grabbed the officials by their collars, pushed them out, and prevented them from fulfilling their official duties related to dengue prevention.
This incident highlights the ongoing challenges faced by health officials in Pakistan as they work to combat dengue outbreaks.
