Governor’s Inspection Team Calls Flood-Affected Wheat Unfit for Consumption
PESHAWAR: The Governor’s Inspection Team has submitted its inquiry report regarding the flood-affected wheat stored in the Aza Khail warehouses. The report reveals that six warehouses across two blocks were inundated with floodwater, leading to concerns over the safety of the wheat stored within.
Samples of the affected wheat have been sent to the Pakistan Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (PCSIR) for analysis. Preliminary findings indicate that the wheat is unfit for human consumption, raising alarms among health officials and food safety advocates.
This situation poses significant implications for food security in the region, as the contamination of staple crops could exacerbate existing economic challenges and impact the livelihoods of farmers and consumers alike. The potential for widespread health risks further complicates the matter, necessitating immediate action from authorities.
In response to these findings, the Governor’s office is expected to initiate further investigations and hold accountable those responsible for the storage and management of the wheat. Stakeholders are urged to monitor the situation closely as the government prepares to address the fallout from this alarming discovery.
