Peshawar Electric Supply Company Installs Smart Meters to Enhance Efficiency

PESHAWAR: The Peshawar Electric Supply Company (PESCO) is actively replacing outdated electricity meters with advanced smart meters across its service regions. This initiative aims to improve the accuracy of electricity readings and enhance service delivery for consumers.

Under the directive of PESCO’s Chief Executive Akhtar Hamid Khan, the installation of smart meters is underway, allowing for automatic readings and reducing the need for manual meter checks. This modernization effort is expected to streamline operations and provide consumers with more reliable billing.

The introduction of smart meters is anticipated to benefit electricity consumers significantly by minimizing billing discrepancies and enhancing transparency in energy consumption. As the country grapples with energy management challenges, this move could also contribute to better resource allocation and energy conservation efforts.

Looking ahead, PESCO plans to continue the rollout of smart meters throughout the PESCO region, with further updates expected on the timeline and scope of the project. Stakeholders are optimistic that this transition will lead to improved customer satisfaction and operational efficiency.
