Senate Committee Warns of MD CAT Exam Reassessment if Negligence Proven

KARACHI: The Senate’s Standing Committee on Health, chaired by Aamir Chishti, has announced that the Medical and Dental College Admission Test (MD CAT) will be re-administered if any negligence is proven regarding the exam’s conduct. This statement comes amid growing concerns over the results of the MD CAT in Sindh, particularly in Karachi.

During a recent session, Chishti expressed serious apprehensions about the integrity of the examination process, emphasizing the need for transparency and accountability. He stated, “If any shortcomings are identified, we will not hesitate to call for a re-examination to ensure fairness for all candidates.” The committee’s scrutiny reflects a broader commitment to uphold educational standards in the province.

This development raises significant implications for students and educational institutions in Sindh, where the MD CAT is a critical gateway for aspiring medical professionals. The potential for a re-examination could lead to delays in admissions and affect the academic calendar, thereby impacting thousands of students who rely on timely results to secure their futures.

Looking ahead, the Senate committee plans to convene further discussions to investigate the examination process thoroughly. Stakeholders, including educational authorities and student representatives, are expected to be called in for consultations to address the concerns raised and to outline measures to prevent future discrepancies.
