Govt Allocates Rs352.5 Million for Technology Grants to Boost Innovation
ISLAMABAD: The Pakistani government has announced a significant allocation of Rs352.5 million for two major technology programs aimed at transforming research into commercially viable products. The Prime Minister’s SPARK and ELEVATE initiatives will provide grants of up to Rs200 million per project for the fiscal year 2026-27.
According to official documents, these programs are designed to support up to 60 research and innovation projects annually, fostering a culture of technological advancement and entrepreneurship in the country. A government spokesperson emphasized the importance of these initiatives, stating, “By investing in technology, we aim to bridge the gap between research and market needs, ultimately enhancing the economic landscape of Pakistan.”
The implications of this funding are profound, as it not only encourages local startups and researchers but also positions Pakistan as a competitive player in the global technology arena. Experts believe that such investments can lead to job creation, increased exports, and a more robust economy, particularly in the tech sector.
Looking ahead, the government plans to hold informational sessions for potential applicants and stakeholders in the coming months to outline the application process and criteria for these grants. This proactive approach aims to ensure that a diverse range of projects can benefit from the funding.
