LAHORE: Federal Minister for Communications Aliem Khan has announced that the construction of the Sukkur-Karachi Motorway will commence shortly. Speaking at an event organized by the Lahore Chamber of Commerce and Industry on October 24, 2026, Khan emphasized the government’s commitment to enhancing national infrastructure.

During his address, Khan revealed that the National Highway Authority (NHA) is increasing its revenue allocation from PKR 66 billion to PKR 160 billion to facilitate the project. He stated, “This motorway will not only improve connectivity but also boost economic activities in the region, creating numerous job opportunities for our citizens.”

The Sukkur-Karachi Motorway is expected to significantly reduce travel time between the two major cities, enhancing trade and commerce. This development is crucial for the economy, as it aligns with the government’s broader strategy to improve transportation networks across Pakistan, which is vital for regional growth.

Looking ahead, the government plans to hold further discussions with stakeholders to finalize the project timeline and ensure that construction begins without delay. The NHA is expected to release more details in the coming weeks, outlining the project’s phases and expected completion dates.
