Bestway Group Launches Geely Auto in Pakistan, Expanding Electric Vehicle Market
ISLAMABAD: Bestway Group officially launched Chinese automaker Geely Auto in Pakistan on Saturday, marking a significant step in the country’s automotive industry. The company has acquired the Proton plant located at Port Qasim, Karachi, to facilitate the assembly of Geely vehicles.
As Geely’s sole authorized distributor, Bestway Automotive will oversee sales and after-sales services. Group Managing Director Irfan Sheikh emphasized the company’s commitment to localization and the establishment of a charging network to ensure a sustainable presence in the market. The launch features three models: the EX2 compact electric hatchback, the EX5 electric SUV, and the Starray EM-i, which incorporates range-extended EV technology.
Bestway has invested over $350 million in Pakistan over the past three years, generating approximately 20,000 jobs. Evin Ye, Vice President of Geely Auto International Corporation, highlighted that Pakistan is Geely’s first market in South Asia, noting the unique advantage of being the only automaker equipped with a low-orbit satellite network.
Looking ahead, Bestway aims to enhance its infrastructure to support electric vehicles, which could significantly impact the local economy and contribute to environmental sustainability. The company plans to roll out additional models and expand its service network in the coming months.
