Blast at Nasirabad Pylon Disrupts Power Supply Across Sindh and Punjab

Nasirabad pylon blast

DERA MURAD JAMALI: Power supply to multiple regions in Sindh and Punjab is severely disrupted following the explosion of a 220kV high-voltage transmission pylon near Dera Murad Jamali on Saturday. Unidentified assailants detonated an improvised explosive device (IED) beneath the pylon, leading to widespread outages.

According to Nasirabad Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Asad Khan Nasar, the blast occurred in the early hours of Saturday in the Goth Mughal Khan Bugti area. The explosion resulted in the destruction of the pylon, affecting power supply to key cities including Shikarpur, Rahim Yar Khan, Sadiqabad, Sukkur, Larkana, Jacobabad, Kashmore, and Guddu, as well as parts of Dera Murad Jamali.

This incident raises significant concerns regarding the security of critical infrastructure in the region, as residents face prolonged power outages that could impact daily life and economic activities. The lack of immediate claims of responsibility for the attack adds to the uncertainty surrounding the motives behind this act of sabotage.

In response to the blast, police and security forces have cordoned off the area to gather evidence and initiate a search operation. The bomb disposal squad has cleared the site, and repairs on the damaged pylon are set to commence once security clearance is granted by the relevant authorities. The situation remains fluid as investigations continue.
