MUZAFFARABAD: Seven individuals, including a father and his two sons, tragically lost their lives when a passenger jeep veered off a mountain slope on the outskirts of Muzaffarabad on Sunday. The accident occurred around noon as the vehicle was en route from Nakka Shakkar Pattiyan village to Seri Darra village, covering a distance of merely three kilometers.

According to police and administrative officials, the driver lost control of the jeep while navigating a landslide-affected area, causing it to plunge approximately 1,000 to 1,500 feet down the slope. The vehicle rolled over multiple times before coming to a rest in a wrecked state. “Their bodies were scattered across the accident site,” stated Muzaffarabad Additional Deputy Commissioner Zeeshan Nisar.

Local residents initially retrieved the bodies, later assisted by personnel from Rescue 1122. The deceased have been identified as Abdul Waheed, 40, who was driving the jeep, along with Muhammad Khalid, 30, Shafaat, 35, and others, all of whom perished at the scene.

This tragic incident underscores the dangers of traveling through mountainous regions, particularly in areas prone to landslides. Authorities are expected to conduct a thorough investigation into the circumstances surrounding the accident to prevent future occurrences.
