PMDC Enforces Heavy Fines on Medical Colleges for Admission Violations

PMDC admission policy

ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Medical and Dental Council (PMDC) has unveiled its Medical and Dental Admission Policy for 2026, introducing stringent penalties for colleges that breach admission regulations. This new policy aims to ensure timely issuance of merit lists and adherence to administrative requirements, with fines reaching up to Rs500,000 for delays.

Under the new guidelines, medical colleges that fail to issue merit lists on time will incur an initial fine of Rs500,000, with an additional Rs50,000 charged for each day of delay thereafter. The PMDC emphasizes that these measures are crucial for maintaining the integrity of medical education and ensuring that students are treated fairly during the admission process.

This policy shift is expected to have significant implications for the medical education sector in Pakistan, as it seeks to enhance accountability among institutions. By imposing heavy fines, the PMDC aims to deter colleges from neglecting their responsibilities, ultimately benefiting students who rely on timely admissions to pursue their medical careers.

Moving forward, the PMDC plans to monitor compliance closely and may conduct audits of medical colleges to ensure adherence to the new rules. Stakeholders in the education sector are encouraged to engage with the council to discuss the implementation of these policies and address any concerns that may arise.
