Pakistan and China Launch CPIC to Enhance Cultural Exchange and Counter Misinformation

China-Pakistan Information Corridor

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan and China have officially inaugurated the China-Pakistan Information Corridor (CPIC), a strategic initiative aimed at countering misleading narratives and fostering cultural exchanges between the two nations. The launch ceremony, held in Islamabad and broadcasted on Tuesday, was attended by Information Minister Ataullah Tarar, along with Chinese Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Mao Ning and Ambassador Jiang Zaidong.

During his remarks, Minister Tarar emphasized the importance of collaboration in media and information sharing, expressing a long-standing desire to strengthen ties with China through digital platforms. He highlighted the historical significance of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), stating that it has transformed decades of goodwill into tangible infrastructure, lighting homes and connecting provinces through motorways.

Tarar noted that while the initial phase of CPEC focused on physical connectivity, the CPIC aims to bridge the intellectual gap between the peoples of Pakistan and China. This initiative is expected to enhance mutual understanding and cooperation, thereby solidifying the already strong bilateral relations.

Looking ahead, the CPIC is set to facilitate ongoing dialogues and exchanges between think tanks and cultural institutions in both countries. This initiative marks a significant step in promoting a shared narrative and countering misinformation, with future collaborations anticipated to further deepen the partnership.
