Pakistan Launches 100 MW Solar Energy Project in Gilgit-Baltistan
GILGIT-BALTISTAN: The Government of Pakistan is advancing a 100 megawatt solar energy project to enhance electricity supply and meet energy demands in Gilgit-Baltistan, supported by the Public Sector Development Program (PSDP).
The initiative, spearheaded by the Power Division, includes the installation of 82 megawatts of large solar facilities across the region, along with solar panels on 499 government buildings. This project is a significant step towards sustainable energy solutions in a region that has faced persistent energy shortages.
This solar energy project is expected to provide a reliable power source, reducing dependence on fossil fuels and contributing to environmental sustainability. It aligns with Pakistan’s broader goals of increasing renewable energy capacity and addressing climate change challenges.
As the project progresses, officials anticipate further developments in renewable energy infrastructure, with plans for future expansions and potential collaborations with international energy firms.
