Singapore FM Vivian Balakrishnan to Visit Pakistan on Official Trip
ISLAMABAD: Singapore’s Minister for Foreign Affairs, Dr Vivian Balakrishnan, will undertake an official visit to Islamabad on Friday (October 30) upon the invitation of Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced on Thursday.
According to an official spokesperson from the Foreign Office (FO), the high-profile visit carries substantial diplomatic weight as it coincides with the landmark 60th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Pakistan and Singapore. The visit also comes at a strategic juncture ahead of Singapore’s scheduled assumption of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) chairmanship in 2027.
During the delegation-level deliberations, DPM Ishaq Dar and Foreign Minister Dr Balakrishnan will lead their respective teams in comprehensive bilateral discussions. The agenda will encompass the entire spectrum of Pakistan-Singapore relations, with a focused emphasis on expanding trade, investment, technological cooperation, and educational exchanges, alongside deliberations on critical regional and global developments of mutual interest.
The two sides are also expected to sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to formalize cooperation in key sectors and enhance institutional mechanisms between both foreign ministries. The visit is expected to pave the way for deeper economic engagement and reinforce Pakistan’s broader diplomatic outreach toward Southeast Asian markets.
