PM Announces Financial Aid for Families of Pakistanis Killed in Somalia
ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has announced a financial assistance package of 1.25 million PKR for each family of the Pakistani nationals who were tragically killed in Somalia. This decision comes in response to the recent violent incidents that claimed the lives of several Pakistani citizens working abroad.
In a statement released on Monday, the Prime Minister expressed his condolences to the bereaved families and emphasized the government’s commitment to supporting them during this difficult time. He noted that the Pakistani government is in close contact with local authorities in Somalia to ensure the safety of its citizens and to investigate the circumstances surrounding the killings.
This announcement highlights the ongoing challenges faced by Pakistani workers abroad, particularly in conflict-prone regions. The financial aid aims to provide some relief to the affected families, reflecting the government’s recognition of their sacrifices and the need for enhanced protective measures for overseas workers.
Looking ahead, the government plans to convene a meeting with relevant stakeholders to discuss further protective measures for Pakistani nationals abroad and to enhance diplomatic efforts in regions where Pakistani workers are at risk. The Prime Minister has urged all departments to prioritize the safety and welfare of citizens working overseas.
