Citizens No Longer Need to Visit NADRA for Marital Status Changes

NADRA marital status

ISLAMABAD: Citizens in Pakistan can now update their marital status to ‘married’ without visiting the National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) office. This new policy, announced on October 29, 2026, streamlines the process for individuals wishing to register their marriages.

NADRA’s statement clarified that once a marriage is registered with the local union council, the marital status will automatically reflect in NADRA’s records, provided the identification card number is included in the marriage certificate. This initiative aims to reduce bureaucratic hurdles and enhance the efficiency of civil registration.

This change is expected to significantly benefit citizens by simplifying the process of updating personal records, thereby saving time and resources. It reflects the government’s commitment to improving public services and reducing the administrative burden on citizens.

Looking ahead, NADRA plans to implement further digital solutions to facilitate various registration processes, aiming for a fully integrated online system in the near future. Citizens are encouraged to utilize the union council services for marriage registration to take advantage of this new policy.
