Rana Sanaullah Confirms Imran Khan’s Sister Noreen Receives Medical Care

Noreen Khan health update

ISLAMABAD: Adviser to Prime Minister Rana Sanaullah announced in the Senate that Noreen Niazi, the sister of imprisoned PTI founder Imran Khan, is in stable condition following medical treatment received at a hospital yesterday.

Noreen, along with her sisters Aleema Khan and Uzma Khan, has been in detention since September 21 under the Punjab Maintenance of Public Order Ordinance, 1960, as ordered by the Lahore deputy commissioner. A day prior to Sanaullah’s statement, Noreen’s lawyer revealed that she was transferred from Kot Lakhpat jail to the Punjab Institute of Cardiology due to high blood pressure, raising concerns about her health.

The lawyer criticized the authorities for failing to inform the family about Noreen’s deteriorating condition, highlighting issues surrounding transparency and the treatment of detainees. Sanaullah’s remarks came in response to a query from PTI parliamentary leader Barrister Ali Zafar, who sought clarity on Noreen’s health status and the circumstances of her hospital visit.

This incident underscores ongoing tensions surrounding the treatment of political figures and their families in Pakistan, particularly as the country navigates a complex political landscape. The situation raises questions about the implications for civil liberties and the rights of detainees in the context of political dissent.
