Pakistan State Oil Reports Profit Surge to Rs25.56 Billion in Q1 FY27
KARACHI: Pakistan State Oil (PSO) has announced a remarkable profit after tax of Rs25.56 billion for the first quarter of FY27, marking a significant increase from Rs9.39 billion in the same period last year. The earnings per share also surged to Rs54.44, driven by higher sales volumes and an improved product mix, despite facing increased finance costs.
In its consolidated results, PSO reported a total profit of Rs29.42 billion, with an earnings per share of Rs62.66, which includes contributions from Pakistan Refinery Ltd. The company’s petroleum sales experienced a robust year-on-year growth of 17.8%, significantly outpacing the industry average of 7.1%, thereby enhancing its market share by 4.2 percentage points to 45.9%.
Chief Executive Jawwad Ahmed Cheema highlighted that PSO’s growth rate was more than double that of the market, emphasizing the company’s ability to maintain supply chains during severe regional disruptions. Notably, petrol sales surged by 23.2% to 968,000 tonnes, while high-speed diesel sales rose by 12.8% to 759,000 tonnes, despite a national contraction in diesel demand.
Looking ahead, PSO aims to sustain its growth trajectory while navigating the challenges posed by fluctuating market conditions. The company is expected to continue focusing on enhancing its product offerings and expanding its market presence in the coming quarters.
