ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Saturday sharply criticized the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) for its governance in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, questioning the transparency of funds allocated to the provincial government and their impact on the welfare of the local populace.

During a meeting of the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) parliamentary party in Islamabad, Sharif highlighted the PTI’s 13-year tenure in the province, accusing them of failing to deliver on numerous promises made to the people. He stated, “They have raised countless slogans, delivered fiery speeches, held long marches and sit-ins, and made numerous promises,” yet little has been accomplished.

The Prime Minister recalled PTI’s ambitious pledges to construct hundreds of dams, generate substantial solar power, and establish educational and healthcare institutions. He questioned the fulfillment of these commitments, asking, “How many universities have been established? How many new hospitals have been built? What facilities have actually been provided to the people?” His remarks underscore a growing frustration among citizens regarding the lack of tangible improvements in their daily lives.

Looking ahead, the PML-N plans to intensify its efforts to address the governance issues in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and hold the PTI accountable for its record. The Prime Minister’s comments may signal a broader strategy to galvanize support ahead of upcoming political contests, as the PML-N seeks to position itself as a viable alternative to the PTI’s leadership.
