Barcelona Thrashes Alaves 6-1 to Regain La Liga Lead at Camp Nou

BARCELONA: Barcelona delivered a commanding performance on Saturday, defeating Deportivo Alaves 6-1 at Camp Nou to reclaim the top spot in La Liga. The victory comes after two consecutive defeats, including a Champions League loss to Paris Saint-Germain and a Clasico setback against Real Madrid.

Raphinha and teenage sensation Lamine Yamal each scored twice, with Fermin Lopez also finding the net in a dominant first half. Raphinha opened the scoring early, followed by Lopez’s strike, and Yamal capped the first half with a goal just before the break. Yamal added another in the second half, while substitute Anthony Gordon rounded off the scoring for Barcelona. Mariano Diaz managed a consolation goal for Alaves.

This emphatic win not only boosts Barcelona’s morale but also places them two points ahead of second-placed Atletico Madrid, who secured a 2-0 victory against Levante earlier in the day. Lopez expressed relief and gratitude towards the fans, stating, “It was a hard week for us; there was no better place than Camp Nou in front of our fans to bounce back.”

Looking ahead, Barcelona aims to maintain their momentum as they prepare for upcoming fixtures, with hopes of solidifying their position at the top of La Liga. The team will need to build on this performance to regain confidence and consistency in both domestic and European competitions.
