Police Kill Suicide Bomber, Terrorist in Lakki Marwat Operation
LAKKI MARWAT: Law enforcement agencies neutralized two dangerous militants, including a trained suicide bomber, during a high-stakes tactical operation in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s Lakki Marwat district on Sunday, police officials confirmed.
According to preliminary official reports, the intense encounter unfolded in the Gandi Chowk area of the district after police personnel intercepted key operatives belonging to the outlawed Fitna al-Khwarij network. Upon being signaled to stop, the militants opened heavy, indiscriminate fire on the advancing police party. Security forces responded with decisive counter-fire, killing two high-value militants on the spot—including a suicide bomber clad in an explosive vest—while another militant was severely wounded during the armed confrontation.
The successful operation underscores the heightened state of alert maintained by law enforcement agencies across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa as counter-terrorism operations continue to eliminate insurgent strongholds. Senior police officials noted that the timely intelligence-led action successfully averted a potentially catastrophic terror attack aimed at public infrastructure and security personnel in the southern belt of the province, where hostile groups have repeatedly tried to disrupt peace.
Following the shootout, contingent forces from the Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) and local police cordoned off the entire Gandi Chowk vicinity to conduct a thorough search and sweep operation. Security measures have been placed on high alert across Lakki Marwat and adjacent corridors, while bomb disposal technicians and forensic teams collect critical evidence to track down operational handlers and affiliated terror networks operating in the region.
