HEC Updates MBBS and BDS Admission Process for 2026-27 Academic Year
ISLAMABAD: The Higher Education Commission (HEC) has announced a significant revision to the admission procedure for MBBS and BDS programs for the 2026-27 academic session. This change mandates that candidates apply directly to their chosen medical and dental universities, moving away from the previous system where HEC facilitated admissions.
The new procedure aims to streamline the application process for students from Balochistan and the erstwhile Federally Administered Tribal Areas (FATA), ensuring that they have direct access to the institutions of their choice. An HEC spokesperson stated, “This initiative is designed to empower students and enhance their chances of securing a place in their preferred programs without intermediary delays.”
This revision is expected to have broader implications for the educational landscape in Pakistan, particularly for students from underrepresented regions. By allowing direct applications, the HEC hopes to increase transparency and efficiency in the admission process, potentially leading to a more equitable distribution of educational opportunities across the country.
Looking ahead, the HEC plans to conduct informational sessions to guide prospective students through the new application process. These sessions will be crucial in ensuring that candidates are well-informed and prepared to navigate the changes effectively.
