Peshawar Launches Operation Against High Loss Transformers Following PM’s Directive
PESHAWAR: In a decisive move to tackle electricity theft and reduce losses, the government has initiated an operation against high loss transformers in Peshawar, following directives from Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif.
The operation, led by Peshawar Electric Supply Company (PESCO), aims to identify and replace transformers that are contributing to significant energy losses. A spokesperson for PESCO stated, “This initiative is crucial for improving our energy distribution system and ensuring that consumers receive reliable electricity. We are committed to addressing the issues that have plagued our energy sector for years.”
This operation holds broader implications for the energy sector in Pakistan, as high losses have not only strained the national grid but have also led to increased tariffs for consumers. By targeting these transformers, the government hopes to enhance efficiency, reduce costs, and ultimately provide better service to the public.
Moving forward, PESCO plans to conduct a comprehensive audit of all transformers in the region, with further operations expected in other provinces. The government is also exploring additional measures to curb electricity theft and improve overall energy management.
