Burglars Steal Priceless Antiques from Nawab of Bahawalpur’s Family
ISLAMABAD: In a shocking incident, burglars have stolen cash and valuables exceeding Rs34 million in eight separate occurrences across the capital, according to police reports. Among the most significant thefts was the robbery of priceless heirlooms and antiques belonging to the family of the Nawab of Bahawalpur, valued at Rs20 million, from the residence of Prince Bahawal Abbas Khan Abbasi in the F-8/3 sector.
The police have registered a case under Sections 454 and 380 of the Pakistan Penal Code (PPC) following the discovery of the break-in. The family reported that the storeroom had been forcibly accessed, leading to the loss of numerous valuable items, including a silver throne chair, silver bowls, gold plates, and a large crested silver frame featuring the Bahawalpur State crest. Additionally, antique arms and heritage weapons, such as old musket guns and swords from the Bahawalpur State, were also reported missing.
This incident raises concerns about the security of cultural heritage and the safety of high-value properties in Islamabad. The theft of such significant historical artifacts not only impacts the Nawab’s family but also poses a threat to the preservation of Pakistan’s rich cultural legacy.
Authorities are expected to conduct a thorough investigation into the incidents, with the complainant indicating that a detailed inventory of the missing items is underway. A supplementary list of stolen articles will be submitted once the stock-taking is completed, as police continue to gather evidence and seek leads on the burglars.
