Dar Reviews Preparations for 2027 SCO Summit in Islamabad

ISLAMABAD: Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar convened a meeting on Wednesday to review the preparations for the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) summit scheduled to take place in Islamabad in 2027. This meeting included a delegation of SCO national coordinators and officials, emphasizing the importance of practical cooperation ahead of the significant multilateral event.

During the meeting, FM Dar expressed his satisfaction with the ongoing preparations and urged all relevant departments to ensure seamless coordination. He reiterated Pakistan’s commitment to hosting the SCO Summit successfully, aiming to set high standards for this vital international forum.

The SCO national coordinators, who were in Islamabad for their inaugural meeting of the Council of National Coordinators, also met with FM Dar. They reaffirmed their dedication to fostering collaboration and practical cooperation among member states in anticipation of the summit.

As the summit approaches, the government is also defending its decision to procure 45 bulletproof vehicles to ensure the safety and security of delegates during the event. This procurement is part of broader efforts to enhance the infrastructure and logistics necessary for hosting such a high-profile gathering.
