NCERT and NTC Urge Users to Strengthen Password Security to Prevent Hacks

ISLAMABAD: The National Cyber Emergency Response Team (NCERT) and the National Telecommunication Corporation (NTC) have issued a critical warning to internet users regarding the dangers of poor password habits that can lead to account hacking. This advisory comes in light of increasing cyber threats targeting individuals and organizations across the country.

In a joint statement, officials from NCERT and NTC emphasized the importance of creating strong, unique passwords for online accounts. They highlighted that many users still rely on easily guessable passwords, making them vulnerable to cyberattacks. The agencies recommend using complex combinations of letters, numbers, and symbols, as well as enabling two-factor authentication wherever possible.

This warning underscores a growing concern in Pakistan, where digital literacy and cybersecurity awareness are still developing. As more citizens engage with online services, the risk of cybercrime escalates, potentially leading to financial losses and privacy breaches. Experts believe that enhancing password security is a fundamental step in protecting personal information in an increasingly digital world.

In response to this advisory, NCERT and NTC plan to launch a nationwide campaign aimed at educating the public about safe online practices. This initiative will include workshops, online resources, and collaboration with educational institutions to foster a culture of cybersecurity awareness among users.
