Commission for Protection of Journalists Launches New Complaint Mechanism

ISLAMABAD: The Commission for Protection of Journalists and Media Professionals has activated its complaint mechanism, allowing journalists and media professionals to file grievances immediately. This decision was made during the commission’s third meeting held on Tuesday at the Ministry of Information.

The commission’s new system enables manual submission of complaints until the online Complaint Management Portal is fully operational. This initiative aims to enhance the protection of journalists and ensure their voices are heard in the face of challenges they encounter in their profession.

This development signifies a crucial step towards safeguarding media freedom in Pakistan, where journalists often face threats and intimidation. By providing a structured avenue for complaints, the commission seeks to foster a safer environment for media professionals, thereby strengthening democratic discourse.

Looking ahead, the commission plans to expedite the launch of the online portal, which is expected to streamline the complaint process further. Future meetings will focus on evaluating the effectiveness of the mechanism and addressing any emerging issues faced by journalists.
