Govt Launches Digital Portal for SMEs, Aims for November Deadline
ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has directed the establishment of a digital portal for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) by the end of November. This initiative aims to enhance access to bank financing and facilitate real-time monitoring of credit and other business services.
During a high-level meeting on Wednesday, Sharif emphasized the importance of this portal in streamlining the lending process for SMEs, which are vital to Pakistan’s economy. He stated, “This digital platform will not only ease access to financing but also ensure transparency and efficiency in the lending process, ultimately supporting the growth of our SMEs.”
The introduction of this digital portal is expected to significantly impact the business landscape in Pakistan, where SMEs contribute substantially to employment and economic activity. By simplifying the financing process, the government aims to empower entrepreneurs and stimulate economic growth, particularly in the wake of ongoing financial challenges.
Looking ahead, the government plans to conduct further meetings to finalize the portal’s features and ensure its launch aligns with the November deadline. Stakeholders from the banking sector and SME representatives will be consulted to create a user-friendly and effective platform.
