CDA Suspends Range Officer Over Alleged Negligence in Illegal Construction

ISLAMABAD: The Capital Development Authority (CDA) has taken decisive action against illegal encroachments in Islamabad, suspending a range officer from the Bhara Kahu zone for alleged inefficiency and misconduct regarding unauthorized construction.

The suspension follows a series of disciplinary measures within the CDA’s environment wing, which has already seen three officials face consequences in recent days. An official confirmed, “Yes, we have suspended the Range Officer of the Bhara Kahu area. An inquiry will be held to determine the facts about the unauthorized construction of a house and the role of this official.”

This crackdown on misconduct highlights the CDA’s commitment to environmental protection and regulatory enforcement. Member Environment Abdullah Khurram Niazi has emphasized the need for strict action against those undermining environmental integrity. In addition to the recent suspension, two other officials from the same zone were dismissed for similar reasons, while another received a show-cause notice for allegedly accepting a bribe.

Looking ahead, the CDA is expected to continue its investigations, with reports suggesting that two more officials may soon face disciplinary action. The authority’s ongoing efforts aim to restore public trust and ensure compliance with environmental regulations across the capital.
