Pakistan Defeats Hong Kong to Secure Squash Final and Silver Medal

NAGOYA: Pakistan’s men’s squash team triumphed over Hong Kong with a score of 2-1 in the semi-finals of the Asian Games held at the Nagoya Kinjo Futo Arena on Thursday, securing a place in the final and guaranteeing at least a silver medal.

The victory follows Pakistan’s impressive quarter-final win against South Korea, which had already ensured the team a third overall medal in Asian Games squash history. With this latest win, Pakistan has upgraded its medal guarantee to silver and will compete for gold against the winner of the semi-final match between India and Malaysia.

Noor Zaman, Pakistan’s top-ranked player, faced off against Hong Kong’s seasoned player Tsz Kwan Lau in a gripping match that showcased intense competition. The first game was a nail-biter, lasting 13 minutes, with both players exchanging leads before Noor ultimately clinched the game.

Looking ahead, the gold medal match is set to take place soon, and the Pakistani team is eager to reclaim the gold medal, which they last won in 2010. This achievement not only highlights the team’s resilience but also boosts national pride as they aim for a historic victory in the upcoming final.
