Punjab Launches Sanitation Billing for 5 Million Properties Under Suthra Punjab
LAHORE: The Punjab Excise Department has commenced billing urban property owners for sanitation fees today, targeting approximately 50 lakh commercial and residential properties across the province as part of the Suthra Punjab programme.
Officials from the Excise Department have been tasked with managing the billing process, which is expected to generate significant revenue for the provincial government. The initiative aims to enhance sanitation services and improve public health standards in urban areas. A spokesperson for the department stated, “This billing will ensure that all property owners contribute to maintaining cleanliness and hygiene in their communities.”
The introduction of these sanitation fees is anticipated to have broader implications for the province’s economy and public services. By securing a steady revenue stream, the government hopes to invest more in sanitation infrastructure and services, ultimately benefiting citizens through improved waste management and cleaner urban environments.
Moving forward, the Excise Department plans to roll out awareness campaigns to educate property owners about the billing process and the importance of sanitation fees. Additionally, officials are expected to monitor the implementation closely to address any challenges that may arise during the initial phases of the programme.
