Indian Media Claims Pakistani Soldier Killed in Kashmir Encounter
ISLAMABAD: Indian media reports have surfaced claiming that an individual killed in an encounter in the Korag area of Occupied Kashmir was a soldier of the Pakistan Army and affiliated with the banned militant group Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT). The individual, identified as Mohammad Asif, allegedly served in the Pakistan military before his reported involvement with the group.
According to the Asian News International (ANI), Asif, also known by the alias Hashim Moosa, was born on March 7, 1980, and enlisted in the Pakistan Army in 2000, retiring with the rank of Havildar. The report suggests that he was inducted into the Special Services Group (SSG) in 2005 and served with the 4 Commando “Yalgar” Battalion, with postings in Balochistan.
This claim, however, has not been confirmed by Pakistani officials or security forces, who have remained silent on the matter. The implications of such allegations could exacerbate tensions between India and Pakistan, particularly in the context of ongoing conflicts in Kashmir, a region both nations claim.
As the situation develops, analysts are closely monitoring responses from both governments. The lack of official commentary from Pakistan raises questions about the veracity of the claims and the potential for diplomatic fallout. Further investigations and statements are anticipated in the coming days.
