Seven Dead, Over 20 Injured in Kachhi District Vehicle Collision

QUETTA: A tragic vehicle collision on Sunday claimed the lives of seven individuals and left over 20 others injured in the Kachhi district of Balochistan. The accident occurred when two Mazda trucks collided with a passenger wagon on a narrow bridge along the Quetta-Sukkur section of the National Highway, near the Zamindar Hotel in the Mach area.

According to police reports, emergency responders arrived promptly at the scene to assist the victims. The deceased, including women and children, were pronounced dead at the site of the accident. The injured were initially transported to Mach Civil Hospital, where several were reported to be in critical condition and required transfer to Quetta for advanced medical care.

This incident highlights ongoing concerns regarding road safety in the region, particularly on narrow bridges where overtaking maneuvers can lead to catastrophic outcomes. Local authorities noted that the lack of adequate ambulance services in Mach further complicated the situation, as only one government ambulance was operational at the time, while two others were out of service.

In light of this tragedy, officials are expected to launch an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the collision. There are calls for improved road safety measures and better emergency response capabilities to prevent such incidents in the future.
