Thieves Disrupt Power Supply in Sibi by Stealing Conductors from 24 Poles
QUETTA: Unidentified thieves have disrupted electricity supply to the Gandawah area of Sibi by stealing conductors from 24 power poles on the 33kV Gandawah feeder. The theft occurred on Saturday, leading to significant power outages in the region.
According to Qesco spokesperson Afzal Baloch, the thieves not only stole the electrical conductors but also damaged three pre-stressed concrete poles during the incident. This act of theft has left the city of Gandawah, which relies on the 33kV feeder for its electricity, without power. Baloch stated that the power company will conduct an initial survey to assess the damage and prepare a report detailing the financial losses incurred.
This incident raises concerns about the security of electrical infrastructure in the region and the impact on local residents who depend on a stable power supply for their daily activities. The theft highlights ongoing challenges faced by utility companies in maintaining service amidst rising incidents of vandalism and theft.
In response to the incident, Qesco is expected to expedite its survey and restoration efforts. The company aims to restore power to the affected areas as quickly as possible while also implementing measures to enhance the security of its infrastructure to prevent future occurrences.
