Pakistan Signs Pact with Chinese Firm G-Force to Build EV Bike Plant
LAHORE: In a major push toward green mobility and industrial modernization, Pakistan has finalized a major agreement with prominent Chinese industrial group G-Force to establish a state-of-the-art electric bike manufacturing plant in Punjab. The landmark facility will be constructed at the Quaid-e-Azam Business Park in Sheikhupura, signaling a transformative shift in the country’s automotive landscape as demand for cost-effective, zero-emission transport continues to grow.
The formal signing ceremony was held under the chairmanship of Punjab Minister for Industry and Commerce Chaudhry Shaffay Hussain in Lahore, attended by senior provincial officials and Chinese corporate delegates. Under the agreement, G-Force will introduce advanced technological transfers, high-capacity battery integration, and localized assembly lines aimed at producing affordable, high-efficiency electric two-wheelers tailored specifically for local road conditions and consumer needs.
Highlighting the broader economic and environmental benefits, Minister Chaudhry Shaffay Hussain emphasized that transitioning from conventional petrol-driven motorcycles to electric bikes is critical to reducing Pakistan’s massive petroleum import bill and curbing urban air pollution. With smog continuing to pose severe public health challenges across Punjab during winter months, localized production of electric vehicles offers a vital long-term sustainable strategy while generating technical employment for local engineers and skilled labor.
Government officials confirmed that fast-tracked land allocation and infrastructure deployment are already underway at the Quaid-e-Azam Business Park to ensure swift completion of the manufacturing unit. Production is expected to roll out in phased stages, with local automotive suppliers slated to participate in localized component manufacturing, further strengthening the bilateral economic relationship between Pakistan and China.
