Fishermen Rescue Two Turtles Trapped in Net Off Jiwan
JIWAN: Two turtles trapped in a fishing net were successfully rescued by local fishermen in Jiwan, highlighting the community’s commitment to wildlife conservation.
The incident occurred on Tuesday when fishermen noticed the struggling turtles entangled in their nets. Mostafa Khan, a local fisherman, stated, “We couldn’t just leave them there; they are part of our ecosystem. We worked together to free them and return them to the sea.” The turtles were unharmed and swam away after their release.
This act of kindness not only showcases the fishermen’s respect for marine life but also raises awareness about the importance of protecting endangered species in Pakistan’s waters. The region has seen a decline in turtle populations due to habitat loss and fishing practices.
Local environmental groups are now calling for increased education on sustainable fishing practices to prevent similar incidents in the future. They plan to hold workshops and community meetings to promote awareness about marine conservation.
