Sindhi Nationalist Alliance to Hold ‘Sindh Unity March’ in Larkana
LARKANA: The Jeay Sindh Rehbar Committee, a coalition of four Sindhi nationalist parties, has announced plans to hold a ‘Sindh Unity March’ in Larkana on Thursday, October 15. This demonstration is organized in response to the federal government’s proposal to create new provinces, which has raised concerns about the potential division of Sindh.
Riaz Chandio, Chairman of the Jeay Sindh Mahaz-Riaz (JSM-R) and head of the committee, made the announcement during a press conference on Monday. He expressed fears that the federal initiative could lead to the fragmentation of Sindh into multiple administrative units, undermining the province’s integrity. “The march is also aimed against the seizure of Sindh’s resources,” he stated, flanked by party officials including Deputy Secretary General Zulfiqar Baledi.
Chandio criticized the federal government’s actions, particularly the alleged ‘usurpation’ of water and other resources by Punjab, and condemned the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) for its role in destabilizing elected governments. He also expressed concern over the imposition of emergency measures in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, which he described as a tactic to suppress public dissent. “This shows they [the rulers] are afraid of the masses,” he remarked.
As the march approaches, the Jeay Sindh Rehbar Committee is mobilizing support across Sindh, urging citizens to participate in what they describe as a critical stand for provincial rights and unity. The event is expected to draw significant attention and could influence ongoing discussions about provincial governance and resource allocation in Pakistan.
