Attorney General Awan Advocates for Enhanced SCO Cooperation on Online Safety
ISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s Attorney General Mansoor Usman Awan on Thursday called for stronger cooperation among Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) member states to enhance online safety for families and children. Speaking at a conference, Awan emphasized the urgent need to address the growing threats posed by cybercrime and online exploitation.
Awan highlighted that the digital landscape has become increasingly perilous, particularly for vulnerable populations such as children. He stated, “We must unite as a community to develop robust frameworks that protect our youth from online dangers. The SCO can play a pivotal role in facilitating this collaboration among member states.” His remarks come amid rising concerns over cyberbullying, online predation, and misinformation.
The implications of Awan’s call for action extend beyond national borders, as enhanced cooperation within the SCO could lead to more effective strategies for combating cyber threats. This initiative is crucial for fostering a safer online environment, which is essential for the well-being of families and the future of children in the region.
Looking ahead, Awan urged member states to convene for a dedicated summit to discuss actionable measures and share best practices in cybersecurity. He expressed optimism that such efforts would lead to a comprehensive approach to safeguarding digital spaces across the SCO region.
