Punjab Boards Revise Marks Improvement Rules for Absent Students
LAHORE: The Punjab Boards Committee of Chairmen has approved new regulations aimed at assisting students who miss one or more papers during their examinations under the marks improvement policy. This revised policy allows students who are absent from a subject in Part-I, Part-II, or composite examinations to have their previous marks transferred to the absent paper when results are announced.
The decision, made during a recent meeting, aims to provide a fair opportunity for students to improve their academic standing despite unforeseen circumstances that may prevent them from attending exams. An official from the committee stated, “This initiative is designed to support students and ensure that their efforts are recognized, even if they face challenges during examination periods.”
This policy change is expected to have significant implications for students across Punjab, potentially alleviating the pressure associated with missing exams and encouraging higher participation rates. Educational experts believe that such measures could lead to improved overall performance and retention rates among students, fostering a more inclusive academic environment.
Moving forward, the Punjab Boards Committee plans to monitor the implementation of these new rules closely and will hold further discussions to assess their impact on student performance. Additionally, they are expected to release guidelines on how the marks transfer process will work in practice.
