Over 66,000 Pakistanis Seek Employment Abroad in Just Two Months

ISLAMABAD: A total of 66,815 Pakistanis have left the country in search of employment over the past two months, as reported by the Bureau of Emigration and Overseas Employment. This surge in labor migration highlights the ongoing challenges faced by the Pakistani job market.

The report indicates that in August 2026 alone, 27,656 individuals sought work abroad, following a higher figure of 39,159 in July. This month-on-month decline raises concerns about the domestic employment landscape and the factors driving citizens to seek opportunities overseas.

The implications of this trend are significant, as it reflects not only the economic pressures within Pakistan but also the increasing reliance on foreign employment as a means of livelihood. Experts suggest that the government must address the underlying issues contributing to this migration, including unemployment and economic instability.

Looking ahead, stakeholders are calling for a comprehensive review of labor policies and potential initiatives to enhance job creation within the country. As the trend continues, further discussions on labor rights and protections for overseas workers are expected to gain momentum.
