Federal Minister Directs Reduction in Wheat Seed Prices to Ensure Supply

ISLAMABAD: Federal Minister for National Food Security and Research, Rana Tanveer Hussain, has emphasized the need to reduce wheat seed prices and streamline inter-provincial distribution. This directive aims to enhance agricultural productivity and ensure food security across the nation.

During a meeting with representatives from private seed companies and the National Seed Development and Regulatory Authority (NSDRA), Minister Hussain highlighted the critical role of affordable seed prices in boosting wheat production. He stated, “Lowering seed prices will not only benefit farmers but also contribute to the overall stability of the food supply chain in Pakistan.”

The implications of this initiative are significant for the agricultural sector, which has been grappling with rising costs and supply chain disruptions. By making wheat seeds more accessible, the government aims to encourage farmers to increase their crop yields, thereby addressing food shortages and stabilizing prices in the market.

Looking ahead, the Ministry of National Food Security plans to hold further discussions with stakeholders to implement these changes effectively. The government is committed to monitoring the situation closely to ensure that the benefits reach the farmers promptly and efficiently.
