Karachi Police Raid on PPP Leader’s Residence Uncovers Cocaine and Ice
KARACHI: Authorities conducted a significant raid on the residence of Ijaz Jakhrani, a prominent leader of the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP), uncovering a substantial cache of illegal drugs, including cocaine and ice, on Tuesday evening.
The operation, executed by the Karachi Police’s Anti-Narcotics Unit, followed intelligence reports indicating drug trafficking activities linked to Jakhrani’s residence in the upscale neighborhood of Clifton. Police officials stated that the raid resulted in the seizure of over 5 kilograms of cocaine and 2 kilograms of ice, with an estimated street value exceeding PKR 50 million. “This operation is part of our ongoing efforts to combat drug trafficking and ensure public safety,” said a police spokesperson.
This incident raises serious concerns regarding the involvement of political figures in drug-related activities, potentially undermining public trust in political institutions. The PPP, which has faced scrutiny in the past, may find itself under increased pressure to address these allegations and distance itself from any criminal associations.
In light of the findings, police have initiated a comprehensive investigation into Jakhrani’s activities and connections. Authorities are expected to summon Jakhrani for questioning, and further raids may be conducted to dismantle any existing drug networks. The case is likely to attract significant media attention and public scrutiny as it unfolds.
