Mandatory Zu Card Registration for BRT Passengers Begins Today
PESHAWAR: Starting today, all passengers using the Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) system in Peshawar must complete biometric verification and register their Zu cards. This new requirement is part of an initiative by TransPeshawar aimed at enhancing security and efficiency within the public transport system.
The registration process will remain open until December 31, 2026, after which any unregistered Zu cards will be blocked and rendered invalid for travel starting January 1, 2027. TransPeshawar officials emphasized the importance of this measure, stating that it will help streamline operations and ensure the safety of passengers.
This mandatory registration is expected to impact thousands of daily commuters in Peshawar, as the BRT system serves as a vital transportation link for residents. By implementing biometric verification, authorities aim to reduce fraud and improve the overall user experience, which could encourage more people to utilize public transport.
Passengers can register their Zu cards at ticket counters located at all BRT stations. As the deadline approaches, TransPeshawar is urging users to complete their registration promptly to avoid disruptions in their travel plans.
