LHC Rules MDCAT Question Paper Collection from Candidates Illegal

LAHORE: The Lahore High Court (LHC), Rawalpindi Bench, has ruled that the collection of Medical and Dental College Admission Test (MDCAT) question papers from candidates after the examination is illegal. The court has directed the Pakistan Medical and Dental Council (PMDC) to upload the question papers to its app without delay.

Justice Ahsan Raza Kazmi announced the verdict following petitions filed by students Rehan Shahid and Anabia Tahir, who challenged the PMDC’s practice of collecting papers, arguing it infringed on their rights and transparency in the examination process. The court emphasized the importance of accessibility to educational materials for students.

This ruling has significant implications for the MDCAT process, as it aims to enhance transparency and fairness in medical admissions across Pakistan. Students and educational advocates have welcomed the decision, viewing it as a step towards ensuring that examination practices are conducted with integrity and accountability.

In light of this ruling, the PMDC is expected to comply promptly by updating its app with the relevant question papers. Further discussions regarding the examination protocols may take place in upcoming meetings to ensure adherence to the court’s directives.
