Government Launches Initiative to Support 20 Women-Led Startups Annually

ISLAMABAD: The Ministry of Information Technology and Telecommunication (MoITT) has announced a new initiative aimed at supporting 20 women-led technology startups each year, as part of its commitment to fostering female entrepreneurship in Pakistan.

This initiative is designed to empower women micro-entrepreneurs and enhance their participation in the technology sector. An official from MoITT stated, “This program will provide necessary resources and mentorship to women entrepreneurs, enabling them to thrive in a competitive market. We believe that empowering women is crucial for the economic development of our country.”

The implications of this initiative are significant, as it not only aims to boost the economy by increasing the number of women-led businesses but also seeks to challenge gender norms in a traditionally male-dominated industry. By facilitating access to funding and support networks, the government hopes to inspire a new generation of female leaders in technology.

Looking ahead, the MoITT plans to host workshops and networking events to connect aspiring women entrepreneurs with industry experts and potential investors. The first cohort of selected startups is expected to be announced in the coming months, marking a pivotal step towards gender equality in the business landscape.
