Punjab Assembly Summons Gymkhana Club Management Over Land Lease Issues

LAHORE: The Punjab Assembly’s Special Committee No 6 has summoned the Gymkhana Club’s entire Committee of Management, including prominent members Kamran Lashari and Salman Siddique, to appear on October 21. This summons is part of an intensified investigation into the club’s use of government land and compliance with lease agreements.

The committee, led by MPA Sami Ullah Khan, is addressing long-standing controversies surrounding the club’s occupation of public land. Notices issued by Assembly Secretary General Chaudhry Amer Habib indicate that the committee will examine various contentious issues, including Adjournment Motion No 195/2024 and Privilege Motion 55/2025, during sessions scheduled for October 20 and 21.

This inquiry has significant implications for governance and public trust, as it seeks to hold both the club’s leadership and provincial bureaucrats accountable for their actions regarding land use. The scrutiny comes amid growing concerns over the management of public resources and transparency in governmental dealings.

As the committee prepares for its upcoming sessions, it has demanded comprehensive records from key provincial officials, including the Senior Member of the Board of Revenue and the Deputy Commissioner of Lahore. The outcomes of these sessions could lead to further investigations or reforms in land management practices.
