PSG Overcomes Early Setback to Secure 3-1 Victory Against Strasbourg
STRASBOURG: Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) showcased their resilience on Saturday, overcoming an early deficit to defeat Strasbourg 3-1 and reclaim the top spot in the French Ligue 1 standings.
PSG found themselves trailing after United States international Giovanni Reyna scored in the opening minutes at the Stade de la Meinau. Ousmane Dembele, last year’s Ballon d’Or winner, was brought on as a substitute and missed a penalty in the 72nd minute. However, he quickly redeemed himself by assisting Illia Zabarnyi for the equalizer in the 78th minute and scoring the go-ahead goal just five minutes later. Dembele also played a crucial role in Desire Doue’s stoppage-time goal, sealing PSG’s fourth consecutive Ligue 1 victory and their sixth straight win across all competitions.
Manager Luis Enrique praised Dembele’s impact, stating, “If you play for 25 minutes and you give an assist and score a goal, you don’t need to play any longer. That is enough.” He emphasized the importance of managing player fatigue, especially with key European fixtures against Manchester City and Barcelona on the horizon.
This victory not only reinforces PSG’s dominance in Ligue 1 but also highlights their depth and ability to bounce back from adversity. As they continue their campaign, the focus will shift to maintaining momentum in both domestic and European competitions.
