Islamabad Introduces Home-Based Learner Permit and License Renewal Service
ISLAMABAD: Residents of Islamabad can now apply for learner permits and renew driving licenses from the comfort of their homes, a new initiative launched on October 18, 2026. This service, introduced by the Islamabad Traffic Police under the directives of Inspector General Muhammad Sohail Chaudhry, aims to streamline the process for citizens.
The initiative is designed to enhance convenience for residents, eliminating the need for in-person visits to traffic police offices. According to IG Chaudhry, this move reflects the police’s commitment to improving public services and adapting to modern technological advancements. ‘We are dedicated to making the lives of citizens easier and more efficient,’ he stated during the announcement.
This development is expected to significantly benefit citizens, particularly those with mobility issues or busy schedules. By facilitating online applications, the Islamabad Traffic Police is not only saving time for residents but also reducing congestion at traffic offices, which often face long queues.
Looking ahead, the Islamabad Traffic Police plans to expand this service further, potentially incorporating additional features such as online payments and real-time application tracking. Citizens are encouraged to utilize this new facility to ensure their driving credentials are up to date without the hassle of traditional processes.
