NCCIA Arrests Over 1,100 Cybercrime Suspects in First Month Under New DG
ISLAMABAD: The National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency (NCCIA) has made significant strides in combating cybercrime, arresting 1,129 suspects and recovering Rs105.3 million for victims during the first month under the leadership of Director General Syed Ali Nasir Rizvi.
According to a performance report released by the agency, the NCCIA received a total of 5,176 complaints from citizens in this period, with 4,491 of these registered as inquiries for further investigation. This proactive approach reflects the agency’s commitment to enhancing digital security and protecting citizens from online threats.
The implications of these arrests are profound, as they not only signify a crackdown on cybercriminal activities but also aim to restore public confidence in digital platforms. With the rise of online fraud and scams, the NCCIA’s efforts are crucial in safeguarding the interests of individuals and businesses alike in Pakistan’s increasingly digital economy.
Looking ahead, the NCCIA plans to continue its aggressive stance against cybercrime, with further investigations and potential collaborations with international law enforcement agencies to tackle cross-border cyber threats. Citizens are encouraged to report any suspicious online activities to aid in these efforts.
