18 Marble Workers Abducted in Khuzdar Amid Rising Security Concerns

QUETTA: Eighteen labourers working at a marble mine in the Naal area, approximately 40 kilometres from Khuzdar city, were kidnapped on Sunday by a group of armed men, according to police reports.

The assailants stormed the mine premises, holding the workers at gunpoint and abducting them along with the son of the mine’s owner. In a desperate attempt to escape, one worker was shot at by the kidnappers, highlighting the violent nature of the incident. The abducted individuals are primarily locals from the Wadh and Naal regions.

The mine is owned by Sardar Alam Khan Bizenjo, the son of prominent tribal chief Sardar Aslam Bizenjo, who has a history of political involvement with the National Party and has served as a minister in various Balochistan governments. This incident raises serious concerns about the safety of workers in the region, particularly in sectors vulnerable to criminal activity.

In response to the abduction, security forces have initiated a search operation in the area to locate the kidnapped labourers. As of now, no group has claimed responsibility for the kidnapping, leaving authorities to investigate the motives behind this alarming act of violence.
