FESCO CEO Muhammad Amir Faces Money Laundering Charges Over Tax Evasion

FAISALABAD: Muhammad Amir, the CEO of FESCO, has been charged with money laundering following allegations of tax evasion amounting to over 329.6 million Pakistani Rupees. The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) confirmed that the Directorate of Intelligence and Investigation Inland Revenue initiated the case against Amir.

The FBR’s investigation revealed that Amir’s actions constituted a significant breach of tax regulations, prompting the agency to take legal action. Inspector Inland Revenue Muhammad Usman stated that the evidence collected during the investigation supports the claims of substantial tax fraud.

This case raises serious concerns about corporate governance and accountability in Pakistan’s public sector. The implications of such high-profile allegations could undermine public trust in state-owned enterprises and highlight the need for stricter regulatory oversight to combat tax evasion.

As the investigation unfolds, further developments are expected, including potential hearings and additional inquiries into other officials within FESCO. The FBR has indicated that it will pursue all necessary legal avenues to ensure accountability and recover the lost revenue.
